I love bringing a treasured piece back to life for someone else – there is nothing like furniture art to do this. The first piece of furniture painting I did for myself was a little needlework box my father had made for my mother when they got engaged in 1932! It was stained dark brown and, frankly, was ugly, but I loved it for its sentimental value. When I’d daringly put a paintbrush to it and stencilled a sprig of foliage on the front it just came alive and I now love it so much more. I had breathed new life and style into it!
If you have a piece of furniture you would love to revive or change but don’t dare to do it yourself – ask me! Before your very eyes I will transform it into something you will love so much more. I commit to your chosen colours and design, I do not cut corners or skimp on coats of paint – your ‘new’ furniture art will be something you can be proud to display and confident to use.
Or commission an original piece of decoupaged glass – no fewer than 23 stages are involved in the creation of a single piece. If you would like to commission a piece as a special wedding, anniversary, birthday or leaving gift? We will be delighted to discuss your idea with you.
Here’s how it works:
Either give me a call on 07899 940 617 or email me on firstname.lastname@example.org
We will discuss your piece and what you would like done to revive it. I may ask for a photo, or, if you prefer, arrange to come to see the piece (a small fee applies) – or we could talk on Skype or FaceTime. I am happy to advise you on colour schemes and finishes if you are looking for inspiration. At this stage you can change your mind as many times as you like!
I am happy to provide you with portfolio pictures to help you decide what you would like and show you colour charts etc
Perhaps you have a very clear idea in your head – that’s lovely – I will re-create that for you.
I advise how long the work will take, and when it can be done, as well as estimating the cost. (The estimate will include the cost of any travel involved in collecting the piece or site visits)
We finalise dates, venue (your place or mine!) and design.
We sign the paperwork and 50% of the agreed fee becomes payable.
If the work is to be carried out on site, it will be on consecutive days.
Once the furniture has been revived and our work is completed, the balance of payment is due either on collection of the piece by you or before I leave the site.
What people have said:
“It was a joy to have Gillie at our home for the day. Our shelving just looks so different and absolutely gorgeous. I could never have imagined what Gillie created for us. By the time she left, I had already made a list of three other items I wanted to get her advice on. In fact, I am going to sign up for one of her workshops.”
“I wish I had let Gillie loose on my table and chairs years ago. They are perfect and just so original. Gillie’s advice on colour was spot on. Thank you so, so much.”
